Across 8, 17 and 20 July 2026, PATHFINDER held its Serbian participatory activities under the title “AI START: Youth, Artificial Intelligence and the Pathways to Employment” in Niš and Belgrade. Organised by Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS), the activities brought together young people, employers, job information centres, civil society organisations, AI experts and other stakeholders.
The discussions explored how AI is changing pathways into employment and what young people need to respond to these changes. Particular attention was given to young people from rural areas and marginalised groups, while an additional focus group during International Student Week in Belgrade brought perspectives from participants with different educational, cultural and national backgrounds.
Across the activities, one message stood out: AI readiness needs to combine practical knowledge with digital literacy, critical thinking and ethical awareness. These insights shaped the Serbian Research Agenda and Action Plan and its focus on accessible, practical and inclusive preparation for an AI-driven labour market.
